About Us

Lori Long

I am a mom of two sassy girls, a wife of 15 years, and a child psychologist. I work part-time in my practice in Scottsdale, Arizona where I specialize in providing diagnostic evaluations for children with autism, ADHD, learning challenges and dyslexia, and anxiety. Over the years, I have provided online education to school staff in positive behaviors supports as well as taught and developed several graduate-level courses. After years of providing evaluations and therapy, I have found that families benefit greatly from ongoing training, emotional support, and compassion. I am passionate about educating and empowering parents, so that they can help their children gain success.

Though I live in Scottsdale, I am a country girl at heart. I moved from Ohio, where spent my summers shoveling horse manure and participating in competitive show jumping, to graduate school in Arizona. When I am not working with families, I am going to Orange Theory classes, jumping with my kids at Altitude, drinking way too many lattes, and doing far too much online shopping.

Katie Severson

Hi, I’m Katie. Like many of you, I balance a lot of roles: wife, momma to two little ones, speech language pathologist, mentor, and encourager. Above all, I’m learning to give myself grace as I navigate through this busy time of life!

I love talking, laughing, and singing… I am blessed to do all of those things every day as a pediatric speech language pathologist. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, I specialize in differential diagnosis and treatment of a variety of speech and language disorders. While years in private practice have given me experience treating a vast range of diagnoses, my heart has always been drawn to children with autism, ADHD/executive function deficits, and language disorders. I am particularly passionate about parent training and I strive to integrate parents into each treatment plan I develop. The outcomes are incredible when we find the synergy between the parent, child, and therapist.

A few fun facts about me: I love that thing that happens when the sun and the rain come out at the same time, I always wanted to go to cosmetology school to learn all of the secret beauty tricks, and I would happily spend hours getting lost in any music store. The rest of the time, you can find me gardening with my kids, crossing items off of my to-do list, and learning how to cook (doesn’t everyone wait until their thirties to figure that out?!) I always say I am an introverted extrovert because I LOVE being with people, but at this point in my life, I also adore the quiet of our living room once my children are asleep!

Mallory Yee

Hi there! Mallory here… I’m also known as Mama (to two busy boys), wife (to a husband in tech), Mal (to friends and family), and Dr. Mallory (to patients and families). Just over a year ago, I made the decision to embark on a new journey staying at home with my boys. Prior to being a SAHM (though, I must say, we desire to do anything by physically stay at home), I held many professional roles. From working in schools, providing services to children with autism, leading parent education for families with young children with developmental delays, conducting therapy with children and adolescents in their primary care office, and offering comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for families seeking answers, my varied experiences have led me to an important conclusion: We must empower parents. And this, empowering families, is exactly what we hope to do here at The Childhood Collective.

I’ve called Phoenix, Arizona home for most of my life, though I’ve also lived in California, Oregon, and Nebraska. With Southwestern roots, I always thought of myself as a beach-gal. Over the years my appreciation for the mountains and trees has grown and would now be my vacation of choice. Speaking of vacation, I love to brave travel with my family; it’s not always a “vacation” with two little ones (more of a change in scenery), but I have never regretted it. For better or for worse, I have a knack for cleaning the entire house before tackling other pressing responsibilities. I have an undeniable sweet tooth, a love for athleisure clothes, and a side passion for interior design. Most importantly, my boys are teaching me something new about life and parenthood every day, and I am doing my best to be their best student!
